Woman gets 10 years for sodomy and incest charges

A Dalton woman, whose husband pleaded guilty to rape after officials said the two got a female juvenile relative drunk on vodka and performed sexual acts on her, pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy and was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Shannon Dale Pittman, 41, was originally charged with rape, two counts of

aggravated sodomy and two counts of incest after her arrest with her husband, Timothy Labron Pittman, in October of

last year. Shannon Pittman pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Cindy Morris last week.

Timothy Pittman pleaded guilty to the rape charge and was sentenced on May 27 to 13 years in prison without the possibility of parole. After his release, he will spend the rest of his life on probation and must also pay a $2,000 fine plus court costs, perform 300 hours of community service and register as a sex offender.

According to District Attorney Bert Poston, in addition to her prison sentence, Shannon Pittman must perform 200 hours of community service, spend the rest of her life on probation, register as a sex offender and pay a $2,000 fine plus court costs. She also had two pending DUI cases in Murray County and pleaded guilty to those and was sentenced to 12 months to serve concurrent with her prison time for the aggravated sodomy.
