Shannon Dale Pittman

A Chatsworth woman is in jail and her husband under investigation after a juvenile relative accused them of getting the juvenile drunk on fireball vodka and forcing sexual acts.

Shannon Dale Pittman, 41, of 164 Wilbanks Road-E, was arrested Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office on charges of strongarm rape, sodomy where the victim is 13 to 16 years of age and incest after two reported incidents in September. Pittman’s husband is listed as a suspect on an incident report obtained from the sheriff’s office. Detectives declined to comment on the details of the case as the investigation is ongoing, but Lt. Nancy Chadwick with the sheriff’s office said further arrests are expected.

According to the report, the first incident occurred on Sept. 19 at a residence on Haig Mill Road. The juvenile stated the couple were both drunk early in the evening and gave the juvenile vodka to drink as well. After the juvenile was drunk, the juvenile stated both engaged in sexual acts with the juvenile.

The second incident occurred on Sept. 22. Details of that incident were not included in the report.

Shannon Pittman remained in the Whitfield County jail Thursday without bond.
