After a week of being deserted by members of his manufacturing council and chastised by politicians from his own party, President Trump has been in desperate need of an ego boost. This morning, seemingly in order to bolster his self-esteem, he’s been busy retweeting people who have good things to say about him, while also bragging about his latest move regarding the U.S. Cyber Command.
Trump first retweeted two posts from conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who said that he has spoken to several influential “GOPers” and has concluded that support for Trump has actually increased, despite what the mainstream media would have people believe.
I spoke to a group of influential CA GOPers tonight, long time activists, bundlers, influencers. Support for @realDonaldTrumphas increased
Trump also tweeted a link to an announcement about his decision to elevate the status of the United States Cyber Command to a “Unified Combatant Command focused on cyberspace operations.”
According to a statement published on the White House’s website, the purpose of this elevation is to “strengthen our cyberspace operations and create more opportunities to improve our Nation’s defense.”
The statement also notes that the elevation will demonstrate the U.S.’s “increased resolve against cyberspace threats” and also “help reassure our allies and partners and deter our adversaries.”
Trump about the elevation on Friday morning:

Statement by Donald J. Trump on the Elevation of Cyber Command
I have directed that United States Cyber Command be elevated to the status of a Unified Combatant Command focused on cyberspace operations.
Plenty of people were quick to comment on Trump’s announcement, and the majority made it clear that they have very little faith in his plans.
