Donald Trump really doesn’t like Muslims, as they detract from the homogeneity of his crowds, and we all know how much he treasures his crowds.
Trump, however, wants you to think that Muslims are just not only naturally unlikable, but also dangerous.
What he does is similar to what the Nazis did via taking photos of their Jewish victims while they were at the death camps and then spreading those photos around. Those photos were designed to show the Jews in as inhuman of a light as possible, and under the conditions of a Nazi death camp, that wasn’t difficult.
The photos though, in showing the Jews in an inhuman light, lent to the credibility that the death camps were where the Jews belonged. After all, just look at them!
Similarly, Trump pulls disparate instances of violence and relatively “inhuman” in nature behavior and uses them to try and convince his followers that Muslims really have no place in the United States.
That’s the context in which he ever dreamed up the idea to ban Muslims from entering the United States in the first place. In late 2015, after Islamic terrorists killed just less than 150 people in a city wide series of terror attacks in Paris, Trump, while speaking at a rally, asserted that a “total and complete ban” on Muslims entering the United States was in order.
Mind you, however, that the attacks were carried out by a handful of individuals in a foreign country. The actions of that handful do not dictate what the whole global Muslim community is like. In addition, France is the only nation that had its national security compromised by the attacks. France and the United States do not share immigration systems, and there is no part of the incident that suggests that the U.S. immigration system is in any way faulty.
Trump is still at it, though. Since that first mention of the idea of a Muslim ban in late 2015, Trump has held on to the idea for months and, in his new role as the president of the United States, signed it into law last week.
On Friday morning, Trump again took to Twitter in an attempt to use an isolated incident in another country as justification for his institutionalized dehumanization of Muslims.
He wrote, “A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.”
Early on Friday, a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” attempted to bring a machete into the underground shopping mall that is associated with the Louvre. The man was shot by a soldier standing guard and there were no casualties.
