Donald Trump is on the verge of following in Nixon’s footsteps. A stunning new report reveals jut how close Trump is to being impeached and thrown out of the Oval Office.
In an article released by Brookings, the traitor-in-chief could be six votes away from conviction in the Senate. Let me reiterate that: SIX VOTES.
Following impeachment in the House, a trial takes place in the Senate. Conviction requires two-thirds of the Senate and by my count there are already twelve senators who have shown a willingness to take on the president when they believe he is in the wrong.
If you add that to the forty-eight Democrats in the Senate (who have shown no inclination to work with this President), Trump days as president may be over before the year ends.
The only way Trump’s impeachment would be executed properly, is if Mueller continues his investigation into the Trump campaign’s massive secrets, evidence of weakness in the Republican base come forth; historical trends indicating a possible Democratic takeover in the House and, last but not least, defiance in the Senate, which Trump has already checked off the list. Completely disregarding the Senate has not helped Trump’s cause whatsoever. Article I of the Constitution gives the Senate last word on the whether or not his presidency will continue. And as Brookings pointed out: Instead of making friends in the Senate, Trump has done exactly the opposite.
