MERCER Co., Pa. (WKBN) — A Sharpsville woman has been charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and videotaping the abuse.

Carissa Lee Vadala, 19, was arrested following an investigation by the Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Section. According to a criminal complaint, the investigation began after an investigator with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina contacted the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General after finding the video during a child pornography investigation.

Investigators say Vadala was identified as the abuser on the tape after a search of her home. She was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts each of aggravated indecent assault of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, production of child pornography, dissemination of child pornography, sexual exploitation of children and indecent assault, as well as one count each of corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal use of a communication facility.

“This is a disturbing case of a woman exploiting an innocent child,” Attorney General Kane said. “I commend the investigators with the Child Predator Section and their law enforcement partners in South Carolina for acting quickly to prevent this woman from committing further abuse.”

Vadala was incarcerated at Mercer County Jail after failing to post $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 8.
