In the midst of President Trump’s tepid response to the Charlottesville events, some chilling information has been unearthed by some savvy social media users. A 1990 article from Vanity Fair details some disturbing information related to Trump that could be new to some. According to the article, Trump’s first wife, Ivana, had revealed to people on several occasions that Trump admired Adolf Hitler.
The Vanity Fair article reads:
‘John Walter works for the Trump Organization, and when he visits Donald in his office, Ivana told a friend, he clicks his heels and says, “Heil Hitler,” possibly as a family joke’
The article also continued to say:
‘Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed.’
Trump’s lawyer, Kennedy asked him if his cousin gave him the Hitler speeches, to which Trump said:
‘Who told you that?’
When Kennedy said he didn’t know, Trump responded:
‘Actually it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf and he’s a Jew.’
Well, that wasn’t quite the truth. Marty Davis was asked about it and this is what he told the lawyer:
‘I did give him a book about Hitler, but it was My New Order, Hitler’s speeches, not Mein Kampf . I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend but I’m not Jewish.’
On Tuesday evening, shortly after Trump gave his speech, Bustle’s Mehreen Kasana posted an excerpt of the article on Facebook, so all could read about Trump’s admiration for Hitler and the Nazis. The excerpt detailed the conversation with Trump’s lawyer about the Hitler book and Marty Davis.
Towards the end of that conversation, Trump tried to wiggle his way out by saying:
‘If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them.’
No one is buying what he said back then and the majority of people aren’t buying what he says now, especially not in light of recent events. Maya Angelou once said “When people show you who they are, believe them.” Trump has shown everyone who he is and now is the time to believe him.
